About Us

Welcome to Bonogin Valley Rural Fire Brigade, a dedicated team of volunteers proudly serving the Bonogin Valley and surrounding areas since 1992.

Our brigade is made up of passionate locals who give their time, skills, and energy to protect our community from bushfires and other emergencies.

Together, we respond to incidents, deliver community education, and support resilience across the region.

History of the Brigade

The Bonogin Valley Rural Fire Brigade was established in 1992, following a devastating wildfire that swept through the southern end of the Valley in 1991. In response to the disaster, local residents united to protect their homes and decided to form a brigade.

The first meeting took place in February 1992, held in a shaded spot across from where the Fire Station now stands. Twenty locals attended, and with the support of Rod Cox from the Tallebudgera Valley Rural Fire Brigade, the decision to officially form a brigade was made.

A committee was soon created, officers were nominated, and the Bonogin Valley Rural Fire Brigade was born. The early years were challenging, both financially and in terms of equipment. Relying solely on donations, the brigade had no fire truck and initially responded to incidents using private vehicles, knapsacks, and beaters.

Through dedicated local fundraising and strong support from the Bonogin and Mudgeeraba communities, the brigade secured its first fire appliance in December 1993. Over the next five years, continued fundraising efforts enabled the brigade to build its own station and acquire additional vehicles.

Today

Today, the Bonogin Valley Rural Fire Brigade has grown into a fully modernised, community focused station. Our facility has been upgraded and expanded to meet the increasing demands of the region, and we now proudly operate a fleet of four modern firefighting appliances, backed by a dedicated team of over 40 operational and support volunteers.

This modern capability allows us to respond quickly and effectively to local emergencies, carry out hazard mitigation, and engage with the community on fire safety and preparedness.

While our work is supported in part by a local levy included in Gold Coast City Council rates, we do rely on fundraising events and community donations.

If you’d like to support our work, you can donate here. â€‹Every donation helps us stay ready to respond and support our community when it matters most.
