Join the Brigade
Bonogin Valley Rural Fire Brigade is made up of local people who volunteer their time to help protect our community, whether that’s responding to bushfires, supporting during storms and other emergencies, or helping with hazard reduction and preparedness.

If you're curious about joining or want to learn more, we’d love to hear from you.
There’s More Than One Way to Get Involved
Our primary role is frontline firefighting, and we’re always looking for new members who are ready to train, turn out, and contribute to a safer community. If you're interested in hands on response to bushfires and other emergencies, we’ll give you the skills and support to get there.

But firefighting isn’t the only way to help.
The brigade relies on volunteers in a range of roles, from communications and planning, to community education, logistics, and administration. These roles are just as vital to keeping our brigade running and supporting the community.

You don’t need any previous experience to join. Just a willingness to learn, a sense of teamwork, and a desire to make a difference.

Volunteering with Bonogin Valley Rural Fire Brigade is also a great way to meet people, build new skills, and support the place you call home, whether you’re on the frontline or behind the scenes.

There’s a place for you here, and your contribution matters.

Training
When you join the Rural Fire Service, you’ll have access to quality training that prepares you for your role, whether that’s frontline firefighting or supporting the brigade in other ways.

All training is delivered through the Rural Fire Development Framework (RFDF). This ensures that every course is tailored to the needs of volunteers and the work they do. It’s designed to give you the skills and knowledge you need to operate safely, confidently, and effectively.

The training includes a mix of nationally accredited courses and non-accredited internal training, both of which are valuable and relevant to your role in the brigade.

At first, your training will focus on preparing you for your chosen role. But over time, you’ll also have the opportunity to build on that knowledge, gaining skills that are useful not just in emergencies, but in everyday life too.
