Appliances

The Bonogin Valley Rural Fire Brigade operates a specialised fleet of firefighting and support vehicles designed to meet the unique challenges of bushfire prevention, mitigation, and response in our community.

 

Each appliance is equipped for specific operational roles, from rapid initial attack to large-scale firefighting and logistical support. ​

Together, these vehicles enable our brigade to respond effectively to incidents across a variety of terrains and conditions, ensuring the safety of residents, properties, and the surrounding environment.

BV41

Light Attack

BV41 is a Ford Ranger based Light Attack appliance, commissioned in 2021. Designed for rapid response, BV41 is equipped with a 4WD system to access difficult terrain and has a crew capacity of two.

The appliance carries a 400-litre water tank enabling efficient suppression of bush and grass fires, particularly in areas inaccessible to larger firefighting vehicles.

 

BV41 is utilised for initial attack, patrol, and mop-up operations, and provides operational support to the brigade’s heavy and medium appliances.

BV51

Medium Attack

BV51 is an Isuzu NPS300 based Medium Appliance, commissioned in 2008. It features a 4WD system for access to challenging terrain and has a crew capacity of six.

Equipped with a 1,500-litre water tank, BV51 is designed for versatile firefighting operations, including bushfire suppression, property protection, and hazard mitigation activities.

Its larger crew capacity allows for effective deployment of personnel to incidents in both rural and semi-rural environments.

BV61

Heavy Attack

BV61 is an Isuzu FRR550 based Heavy Appliance, commissioned in 2004. It operates with a 2WD drive system and has a crew capacity of six.

The vehicle carries a 3,000-litre water tank, making it well-suited for extended firefighting operations, particularly where sustained water delivery is required.

BV61 is primarily used for large-scale bushfire suppression, structural protection, and support to smaller appliances during prolonged incidents.

GC81

Command / Support

GC81 is a Ford Ranger based Support Unit, commissioned in 2017. With a 4WD system and a crew capacity of five, it provides logistical and operational support to frontline firefighting appliances.

GC81 is utilised for transporting personnel, delivering equipment, and supporting brigade operations at incidents and community events, both within the Bonogin Valley area and across the Gold Coast region.
